Obituary: James Harlan

Story ran on Tuesday, September 25 2001

James Marvin Harlan, 70, of Moberly died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at University Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville with the Rev. Gale Spilman officiating. Burial will be at Mount Shiloh Cemetery in Darksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 21, 1931, to James Stanley and Claudia Marie Wolverton Harlan.

He married Joyce Marie Flowers on Nov. 20, 1955, in Bevier, and she survives.

Mr. Harlan was a farmer and worked for Green Quarries for 18 years.

He was a member of Huntsville First Baptist Church and served in the Army during the Korean War.

Survivors also include two sons, Dale Harlan of O’Fallon and Darrell Harlan of Moberly; two daughters, Susan Schnetzler of Salisbury and Lori Brisco of Sturgeon; two brothers, William Marion Harlan of Columbia and Harrell Lloyd Harlan of Mexico, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Ronimous of Middle Grove; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 1 Broadway, Suite C-1, Columbia, Mo., 65203, or Mount Shiloh Cemetery.
