Services for Ruby Laura Humphries Flowers, 90, Mabank, were held Dec. 3, 2007, at Central Baptist Church in Mabank with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating. Burial was in Ware Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home in Van.
Flowers was born Dec. 31, 1916, in the Live Oak Community to the late Dora Miller and Joe Humphries and died Nov. 29, 2007, in Mabank. She was preceded in death by her husbands A.R. Simmons and Donald Flowers.
She was a seamstress for J.C. Penney and worked as a nursing home aide for many years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Mabank and was a Mabank resident since 1968, formerly living in Three Rivers.
Survivors include her son Joe Simmons, Gun Barrel City; sister Lois Haley, Pleasanton; grandson Joe Wiser, Cleveland, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren Joel and Angelica.
