Robert Wayne Halt, 96, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday evening, August 29, 2017, in his home surrounded by loving family members. He was born February 22, 1921 in Cory, Indiana, to Virgil and Vera Halt. He was a graduate of Honey Creek High School and played varsity basketball for four years. His passion was working on his farm for over 65 years. He also worked a few years in a coalmine and served as a school bus driver.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Kiva Mae Halt, his parents, and siblings Estel “Chub” Halt, Pearl Stewart, Cecil Halt and his great grandson, Samuel Joseph All. Surviving are his two daughters, Barbara Beadle of Indianapolis and Joyce Jensen of Terre Haute; four grandchildren: Tamara Stultz and husband, Kent; Scott Beadle and wife, Melissa; Melody Brooks and husband, Jason; Melinda All and husband, Justin; nine great grandchildren: Dustin Anderson, Gregory Stultz, Graham Stultz, Cameron Beadle, Ian Brooks, Joy Brooks, Julia Beadle, Wesley All, and Vivian All as well as many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family members.

Bob was a long-time member of Faith Wesleyan Church, formerly Greenwood Street Wesleyan Church, and was a faithful and loyal servant to his church. He taught an adult Sunday School class, served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, served on the local board of administration for more than 50 years, provided for the lawn care needs for over 18 years, and was the greeter at church for over 60 years. He especially enjoyed welcoming people and getting to know each person by their first name. Most of all, Bob loved the Lord with his whole heart, had a passion for reading God’s Word daily, and especially enjoyed being in God’s house with God’s people. He and his wife enjoyed entertaining people in their home, hosting parties and hayrides, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and aides at Harrison’s Crossing for their care of Bob during the last 4 ˝ months and Heart to Heart Hospice.

Visitation will be at Faith Wesleyan Church on Sunday, September 3, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at Faith Wesleyan Church on Monday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dan Gormong officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, September 5, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The procession will leave DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 3:30 p.m.

Kiva Mae Halt, 92, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, April 13, 2015. She was born April 4, 1923, in Terre Haute to George and Bertha Walls Fleschner. She was a graduate of Honey Creek High School and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Robert W. Halt; two daughters, Barbara Beadle of Indianapolis, and Joyce Jensen of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Tamara Stultz and husband Kent, Scott Beadle and wife Melissa, Melody Brooks and husband Jason, Melinda All and husband Justin; nine great-grandchildren, Dustin Anderson, Gregory Stultz, Graham Stultz, Cameron Beadle, Ian Brooks, Joy Brooks, Julia Beadle, Wesley All, and Vivian All; brothers, George Fleschner, Alex Fleschner, and Ernie Fleschner and wife Mary Alice; sisters, Alice Steward and husband Joe, Joan Jacks and husband Jim, and Janet Krueger; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her twin, Iva Sandberg, and sister, Roberta Huber, brothers-in-law, Art Sandberg, Treat Huber, and John Krueger; sisters-in-law, Irene Fleschner and Joan Fleschner.

Kiva was a long-time member of Faith Wesleyan Church, formerly Greenwood Street Wesleyan Church. She taught Sunday school for many years influencing many lives in the faith, lead Wednesday evening prayer service, and was involved in the Ladies Prayer Group. She enjoyed entertaining people in her home, playing the piano, baking pies, and spending time with family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at the church on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., with the Rev. Dan Gormong officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be Friday in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The procession will meet and leave from the church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Online condolences may be offered at:
