"Gilbert Ulmer, 41, Dies Of Heart Attack

Gilbert Ulmer, forty-one, 428 Manor St., was found dead in the bathroom of his home Friday at 1:10 a.m.

Dr. Gilbert N. Clime, deputy coroner, said death was caused by coronary occlusion.

He was employed at the Ross Street A and P Store for the past 14 years.

Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Elgin and the late Helen Doersom Ulmer.

Surviving are his wife, Esther C. Flawd Ulmer, threee children, Gilbert Jr., Virginia Lee and Jacklyn Marie, at home; his father, who resides in Lancaster.

Also these brothers and sisters, Richard E., Ralph W., Miriam, wife of Thomas Pfenninger; Robert J., Lloyd, Elizabeth, wife of Norman J. Wettig; all of Lancaster; Leroy, Columbia; and Shirley A., wife of Ira Zimmerman, Lancaster.

Esther C. (Flawd) Ulmer, 96, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Conestoga View, Lancaster, PA. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Ulmer (1961). They were married on September 25, 1940.

Born December 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. Flawd and Dorothy (Shoemaker) Snyder.

Esther was a 1940 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. She worked as a secretary and retired from J.C. Penney in 1983. She was a member of the Lancaster Recreational Senior Center, Happy Hearts and Senior Olympic Games for Bowling.

Esther is survived by her children, Gilbert (Robin) Ulmer, Virginia (Michael) Granbois, Jacklyn Shissler; her brother Harry E. Jr. (Dorothy) Flawd; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Esther was also preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Flawd and her sister-in-law, Judy Flawd.

A Graveside Service will be held in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, 435 Manor Avenue, Route 999, Millersville, PA 17551 on Monday morning, February 12, 2018 at 11AM. Kindly omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Remembrances can be made in Esther's memory to the Lancaster Recreational Senior Center, 525 Fairview Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603.
