Charlane F. (Stepp) Fischer, 85, of West Deer Township, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2016, at UPMC St. Margaret, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 2, 1931, in Russellton, to the late Jesse and Jane (Molleston) Stepp,

Charlane lived in West Deer all of her life. A 1949 graduate of West Deer High School, she worked as a dietary aide for the former Valley View Nursing Home for more than 10 years. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, cooking, anything Thomas Kinkaid, and especially, spending time with her children, grandchildren and their families. Survivors include her husband of 67 years Ernest J. Fischer; children, Deborah L. Vojtko, of Richland, Diane L. (David) Brudy, of Adams Township, Ernest J. (Vanessa) Fischer Jr., of Frazer Township, Donna L. (Dennis) Abbott, of Indiana Township, and Gary J. (Deborah) Fischer, of Saxonburg; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Darwin Stepp; sisters, Myrna Roth and Marilyn Shelestak; half brothers Lee, Loraine, Merle and Willard Stepp; and her half sister, Alma Cunningham.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where a funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. James Ramsey officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.
