from Emma Ten Broeck Runk:
"Isaac Woolverton, born April 24, 1706. He lived [on] part of the large tract purchased by his Father in 1714, in Hunterdon Co., N. J. The deed of such transfer to him has not been found, as is the case in the records of his Brothers, but the boundaries given in their deeds mentions such possession.
Isaac witnessed the deeds for land given by his Father to his Brothers Charles and Dennis. In the Will of his brother Charles, made in 1761, their lands adjoin. The last legal paper referring to the land bears date October 14, 1770.
An old family bible, which in 1900 was owned by Sidney Woolverton of Bailey, Missouri, records the wife of (an) Isaac Woolverton as named Abigail, but no family name is given. The following record is taken from this bible. It may be the record of a grandson, as the dates suggest.
Child of Isaac Woolverton and Abigail -----
21. i. Stephen, born August 9, 1751; died January 1, 1826; married Mercy Cox, born April 22, 1750, died September 12, 1830, daughter of Isaac Cox of Philada., Pa.
For Abigail the wife of Isaac Woolverton refer, N. J. Archives
Vol. 32. Page 155 in the Will of Isaac Herrin. Date April 7, 1756."

Biography
He was born in NJ,Hunterdon-Co,Amwell-Twp (now Burlington-Co).
On 04 March 1731 his father conveyed to him 146 acres of land in NJ,Hunterdon-Co,Amwell-Twp upon which he lived.
He was a husbandman who resided in NJ,Hunterdon-Co (section now in NJ,Mercer-Co),
In 1731 he & his wife were baptised by Mr. JENKINS in the Kingwood-Baptist-Church in NJ,Hunterdon-Co,Hopewell-Twp,Baptisttown. They & several others listed were members of the church sometime between it's founding on 1715/04/23 & when they left on 1742/05/22 to form another church, called the Church of Christ at Bethlehem where they are also listed in records of that church as founding members.
He died between 1770 & 1806 in NJ,Hunterdon-Co,Kingwood-Twp,Rosemont,
Research Notes
There is a problem among WOLVERTON family researchers about whether there were one or two Isaac WOLVERTONs who married women named Abigail. Many printed family trees are based on the assumption that there was only one Isaac - & he was the son of the immigrant Charles; and that he married Abigail HERRIN. MacDONALD's careful review of original land, church & probate records and an analysis of the signatures of the various Isaacs led him to conclude that Isaac, son of the immigrant Charles, was married to an Abigail of unknown maiden surname; and that their only son, another Isaac, was married to 1) Abigail HERRIN & 2) Hannah ROSE.
Both he & his son Isaac were illiterate. The younger Isaac signed legal papers with an "I".

Rhonda Ramsey makes the following claim:
"I am in the process of writing a book about the life and times of Charles Woolverton, the emigrant. The authors of "The Woolverton Family, 1693 to 1850 and Beyond" are WRONG about Isaac Woolverton not being married to Abigail Herrin. In my opinion, they were most decidedly NOT 'careful' in their research concerning this marriage because the very sources they cite as their proof, do, in fact, PROVE the opposite. Not only were they wrong, but they have done a great disservice to the descendants of Issac and Abigail HERRIN and I sincerely hope they will exercise good conscience by admitting their error and revising the book to reflect the facts!
Setting The Record Straight: Marriage of Isaac Woolverton Sr. to Abigail Herrin"
***This claim is in regard to a statement made by David Macdonald that there were multiple Isaac Woolvertons, and that the second Isaac, not the first, married Abigail Herrin. Rhonda's refutation has not yet been published, but will be provided here when it has. Macdonald has been quite meticulous in his research to this point, so it will take considerable evidence to prove his work is erroneous.
