Ted L. Parker

Bloomsburg man, WWII vet was clerk for Merck

Ted L. Parker, age 76, of 670 Sawmill Road, Bloomsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at his Scott Township home. He had lived at his Scott Township residence for 50 years and had been in failing health for 2 years.

Mr. Parker was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Bloomsburg, a son of Mildred (Crawford) Parker and the late C. LaRue Parker. He attended Bloomsburg High School. Following high school he served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Parker was employed as a receiving clerk in the Shipping and Receiving Department of Merck Cherokee Plant, where he retired in 1987 after 35 years of service.

Mr. Parker was a member of Washington Lodge 265 F&AM, Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg Archery Club and Willow Run Country Club. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, and he enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

Survivors include, in addition to his mother, his wife: Diora (Fenstermacher) Parker, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Oct. 16; one daughter: Mrs. Bernard (Linda) Bafile of Bloomsburg; two sons: Chris L. Parker, husband of Kay, and Carl B. Parker, husband of Lynn, of Bloomsburg; 5 grandchildren: Mrs. Wayne (Nikki) Poe of Danville, Michael Parker of Bloomsburg; Michele Bafile of Bloomsburg, Randy Parker of Bloomsburg, and Brian Parker of Berwick; three great-grandchildren: Lauren and Kayla Poe and Morgan Parker; and a sister: Mrs. James (Doris) Jacobsen of Pinehurst, N.C.

Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Market and Eighth Sts. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William T. Anderson, First United Methodist Church, Catawissa, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Diora G. Parker, age 77, of 670 Sawmill road, Bloomsburg, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at Fritzinger Senior Living Community, Drums, where she had resided since January 2004. Diora had lived in RD5 Bloomsburg, Scott Township, since 1954.
She was born March 3, 1928, in Lightstreet, the daughter of the late Timothy and Grace (Creveling) Fenstermcaher. She was a 1947 graduate of Scott High School, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader.
In her early years, Diora worked at the former Dent's Nursing Home. Through the 1960s until 1978, she owned and operated Diora's Beauty Salon in her home.
Mrs. Parker was a former member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Lightstreet. She enjoyed bowling, was a member of the Bloomsburg archery club and was an avid golfer during her retirement years. Diora also enjoyed fishing and camping in Canda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted L. Parker, on Oct. 1, 2003. They were married Oct. 12, 1948. She was also preceded by two brothers: C. Thomas Fenstermacher in 1994 and Edgar Fenstermacher in 1997.
Diora is survived by a daughter, Linda, wife of Bernard Bafile of Bloomsburg; and two sons: Chris Parker, husband of Kay; and Cark Parker, husband of Lynn, all of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; her twin sister; Ida, wife of Frank Pursel, of Bloomsburg and a brother R. Glenn Fenstermcaher of Ocean City, NJ.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 5, at 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Willliam Anderson, Catawissa United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
