Second Lieutenant Kenneth H. Klinger died as a result of injuries received in a C-47 Skytrain crash on November 17, 1944 at George Field, Lawrenceville, Illinois. Irving A. Johnson of Minnesota (F.A.G. Memorial #91985164), Kenneth's friend with whom he graduated flight school was killed instantly. Both men were pilots with the Army Air Corps in a troop carrier unit preparing to go to India or Burma.

He was a graduate of Herndon High School and received his B.A. in Economics from Susquehanna University in January 1943 under its accelerated wartime program. Active on campus, he was co-captain of the baseball team, played football and soccer, and was house manager of Beta Kappa (now Theta Chi) Fraternity. He also was treasurer of his junior class and held memberships in the Business Society and the Pre-Theological Club. The airman began pre-flight training immediately after graduation from Susquehanna and was committed in May 1944. He was married and the father of two sons.

Lieutenant Klinger came from a family of Susquehanna graduates which included two brothers, the Reverend Woodrow Jennings Klinger '37, Herbert Clinton Klinger '40, and a sister Mrs. Martha Klinger Riegel, '39.
