William Richard Leers Jr., 59, Goshen, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born Feb. 6, 1958 in Elkhart, to William Richard & Madeline Doris (McElroy) Leers Sr.
Surviving are daughters, Tiffany Chavez & Alysha Leers, both of Elkhart, Lyndzi Bogue, Wakarusa, son, William Leers, Elkhart, siblings, Viola (Herve) Bergeron, Cleves, Ohio, Preston (Donna) Templeton, Middlebury, Darlene (Earl) Trapp, Elkhart, Paula (Robert) Rink, Goshen, Greg (Rose) Templeton, Elkhart, Terri (Terry) Bourn, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Alysjane (Tuff) Kidder, Bristol, James Leers, Goshen and 14 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents and sisters, Faith Smith and Sandra Leers.
William grew up on Baldwin Lake, Union, Michigan and was a 1976 graduate of White Pigeon High School. He enjoyed boating, music, riding his moped and camping. In 1977, he joined the USMC with his best friend, Terry Hayes.
William was a Mechanical Engineer working with his father at Elkhart Hinge Company for many years. He then worked at Stoutco, Inc., Bristol for 10 years and later at Atlas Chem-Milling, Elkhar
