John S. Farnsworth Jr., 80, of Nisbet, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at his residence.

Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Geneva, N.Y., he was a son of the late John S. Sr. and Hazel Sauers Farnsworth.

John and his wife, the former Beverly J. Hofer, were married Feb. 2, 1951.

John was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a machinist from Hermance Machine Co.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debra Reed of Williamsport, John S. Farnsworth III of South Williamsport, Cathy Saffel of Carlisle, K. Sue English of Shiremanstown; two sisters, Mabel Pentz of Montgomery and Jo Ann Andrews of Williamsport; five grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren; and a Godchild, Patrick Dapp of Montoursville.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Nancy Bohartz, Pauline Regal, Letha Klinefelter and Mary Kennedy.

A funeral service (casual dress) will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Patrick and Amy Dapp, 522 Sand Hill Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.
