J. ARTHUR ROBINSON, 82, of 36 North Seventh St., Indiana, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 1980, In the Indiana Hospital. A son of James W. and E. Blanche Stewart Robinson, he was born July 21, 1897, in Saltsburg. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church of Indiana where he served as a ruling elder for many years, and as a trustee; was a fifty year member and a Past Master of Williamson Lodge #431, F.&A.M. of Saltsburg; a life member of the Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory and Syria Shrine; the Indiana County Shrine Club; William S. Daugherty Royal Arch Chapter #313 of Indiana; Saltsburg Lodge #646 I.O.O.F.; a life member of Indiana Lodge B.P.O.E. #931; Indiana Council #598 U.C.T.; Indiana Camp Woodmen of the World; and a fifty year member of the Kiwanis Club of Indiana. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Richard W. Watson American Legion Post #141, of Indiana. He served many years as a director on the board of the Savings & Trust Co. of Pennsylvania.

He received his early education in the Saltsburg Public Schools, graduated from Kiskiminetas Spring School, Saltsburg, and from Eckel's College of Embalming in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His professional organization memberships were in the Allegheny County, the Pennsylvania and the National Funeral Directors Association, and was a member of the National Selected Morticians. In 1928, Mr. Robinson became a co-owner and partner with his father, James W. Robinson who had founded the Robinson Funeral Home in Saltsburg in 1891, and with his brother, Harold T. Robinson, founded the Robinson Funeral Home in Indiana in 1928, which became Robinson-Lytle in 1955.

Elizabeth Ewing Robinson, his wife, and he celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Oct. 3, 1976. She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1978. Mr. Robinson was also preceded in death by his brother Harold T. Robinson in December of 1979. Surviving him is a brother, S. Stewart Robinson of Saltsburg and two sisters Mrs. Ralph M. (Grace) Lytle and Mrs. Frederick S. (Dorothy) Shaulis, both of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
