OBIT
Lelia 'Lee' Donham Atwood McNeese
May 14, 1920 - March 24, 2018
"Lee" met Jesus March 24, 2018. She was born May 14, 1920 in a small town outside Terre Haute, Ind., to Austin and Alta Donham. The family moved to Portland for employment reasons, and she grew up in Portland, graduating from Girls Polytech where she was student body president her senior year and was involved in the presentation of Rose Festival Princesses.
She met Baird Atwood prior to WWII and married shortly after he returned from the war. She had a son, Kelly, in 1946 and a daughter, Devery, in 1948. She and Baird moved to Eugene and were divorced in 1952.
Lee raised her two children alone and started her own in-home business coloring brown-tone photographs for West Coast photo studios that did school pictures, weddings and family photos. Color photography hadn't happened yet. She taught Sunday School at First Christian Church in Eugene where she met Jene McNeese. She continued her successful business until she married Jene in 1972, at which time color photography had phased out her opportunities.
