FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED

Funeral services were conducted at ten o'clock this morning for Leander Wolverton, resident of the St. Paul community for the past thirty years, who passed away Saturday afternoon [April 5] following a long illness. Pneumonia was the immediate cause of death. The last rites were held in the St. Paul M.E. church with the Rev. Mrs. B.M. DeCores officiating. Burial was in Paul Hill cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing, funeral director.

Mr. Wolverton was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Wolverton and was born in Greensburg on December 1, 1871 [stone says 1872] and at the time of death was fifty-eight years, four months and five days old. On January 20, 1900 he was united in marriage with Miss Rose Dodds and to this union two sons were born, Norman, of Indianapolis and Robert, at home who survive with the widow.

He also leaves one grandchild, two brothers, Thomas of St. Paul and Roy of Greensburg and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Miller of Indianapolis.

Mr. Wolverton was a devoted member of the St. Paul M.E. church and was affiliated with the Red Men Lodge.

Mrs. Rose Etta Wolverton, lifelong resident of the St.Paul community, died at 3:00 o'clock this morning at the home of a son, Robert Wolverton in St.Paul. Mrs. Wolverton had been in failing health for the past six months and her condition had been serious since Sunday. She was 76 years of age.

She was born in St.Paul on February 9, 1873, the daughter of John and Mary (Dilts) Dodds. In 1900 she was married to Leander Wolverton who preceded her in death on April 5, 1930.

Surviving with the son at whose home she died, are another son, Norman of St.Paul; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Charles Dodds of Wheatland, Wyo., Alonzo of Shelby County and Amos of St.Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carmony Funeral Home in St.Paul with Rev. W.F.McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Paul Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00 o'clock this evening.
