Felix Marvin Dedmon was the son of John J. and Rachel White Dedmon. He was known by most who knew him as Marvin. He was the brother of Alexander H Dedmon.He was large in stature and because of his love for children, he was often selected to play Santa Claus at community Christmas gatherings. To most children in the neighborhood, he was simply known as Uncle Marv. He was the first of the Dedmon Family to come to Van Zandt County in the very early 1920`s. He married Ida May Woolverton Nolan. They had two sons, one was her son by an earlier marriage, James Nolan, and the other was John j. Dedmon, Jr.

Ida May Dedmon was the daughter of Bud Woolverton of Van Zandt County. She was born in Van Zandt County and was a member of the Woolverton Family, one of the earlier families to arrive in the county. She married Felix Marvin Dedmon and they had two sons, one was by her first marriage, James Nolan and the other by her marriage to Felix Marvin (Uncle Marv)Dedmon. Their son`s name was John J. Dedmon, Jr.
