"Charles W. Peoples
Charles W. Peoples, 60, 1801 Lyman Apt. A, died Sunday at Hutchinson Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1919, at Lenapah, Okla., he married Velma M. Davis, at Partridge. He was retired from the Army and has been a resident of Hutchinson since 1973.

He was a member of the Methodist Church; IOOF, Wichita; 84 Rail Splitters Society; veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.

Survivors: widow, of the home; daughters: Nancy, of the home; Sylvia, Fritch, Texas; brothers: William and Earl, Wichita; sister: Mrs. Julia Scofield, Wichita.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel; the Rev. Paul Mattaei. Burial will be at Partridge Cemetery. Friends may call 1 to 10 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Family suggests memorials to cancer research."

Velma M. Peoples, 90, died Dec. 13, 2010, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 6, 1920, at Pretty Prairie. She was a homemaker and former manager of Commerce Gardens Apartments. In 1940, she married Charles W. Peoples at Partridge. He died Jan. 6, 1980. Survivors include: daughters, Nancy Peoples, Haven, and Sylvia Peoples, Lubbock, Texas. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Sara Davis Blodgett presiding. A private family burial will be held in Partridge Cemetery, Partridge. Memorials may be made to Reno County Historical Society, in care of the mortuary.
