Funeral services for Naomi N. Johnson were held July 22, 2004 at Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Brayton, Iowa.
Naomi Nadine Johnson the daughter of LeRoy Allen and Beulah Marie Ford Fordyce, was born February 14, 1925, at her parents’ home near Blockton, Iowa and died July 18, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE at the age of 79 years, five months, and four days.
Naomi was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Blockton. After the passing of her mother, when Naomi was 13, she was influenced and guided by her father, and Gladys and Orville Ford, her maternal aunt and uncle. She attended Brockton Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1943. She then attended NWMSU in Maryville, MO for two years, where she received her teaching certificate. Naomi taught one year in Missouri, then taught kindergarten in the Exira Community School in Exira for two years.
On August 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Hans R. Johnson at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Griswold, Iowa. They farmed west of Brayton their entire married life.
Naomi was an active member of the Brayton Lutheran Church, where she served as treasurer for many years, and was a member of WELCA and Keenagers. She was a 4-H leader for over 20 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Exodus Chapter 313, Exira, where she had served as Secretary. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Garden Club. She was a member of the Sunshine Club and the American Legion Auxiliary in Brayton. Naomi enjoyed people and enjoyed playing cards and socializing.
Preceding her in death were an infant daughter, Barbara Johnson; a son-in-law, Merrill Sommer; her parents; and a sister-in-law Janet Fordyce.
Survivors include her husband, Hans R. Johnson of Brayton, Iowa; her children: Janet and husband, Dr. Larry Eichmeier of Lee’s Smmit, MO; Nyle and wife, Sally Johnson of Omaha NE; Cheryl and husband, James Scott of Golden Valley, MN; her grandchildren: Kila Sommer of Kansas City, MO; Dan and Chaundra Eichmeier and their children: Sara and Andrew, all of Valparaiso, IN; David Johnson, Greg Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, all of Omaha; Erika and Tom Priestino and their children: Devin, Ilisa and Coln, all of Blair, NE; Brian and Kristi Wilson and their children: Jack and Riley, all of Omaha, NE; and Isaac Scott of Golden Valley, MN; her brothers: Francis and wife, Betty Fordyce of Oelwein, IA; and Eldon Fordyce of Aurelia, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
