Archie was the son of Francis & Esta Matson Wolverton. He attended school in Dickens. He was married Jan. 9, 1933 to Helen Dark, also of Dickens. She was the daughter of Clyde & Myrtle Dark. Archie was employed by the Burlington Railroad in Elsie and was also the city marshal. Archie met a tragic death June 18, 1946. The section men were unloading a car body in the railroad yards in Elsie. It had been moved from the flat car to the cribbing. Something went wrong and the cribbing gave way, crushing Archie between the car body and a boxcar. He and Helen had three children Maxine, Noreen, & Stanley.

Helen Mae Leonhardt, 92, of North Platte passed away Nov. 3, 2008 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
She was born March 28, 1916, in Dickens to Clyde W. and Myrtle I. McDonald Dark. She attended Dickens public schools.
She married Archie W. Wolverton Jan. 9, 1933, in Ogallala. They had three children. The couple resided in Dickens until 1941, when they moved to Elsie. Archie passed away in 1946. Helen later married William Leonhardt, and the couple moved to North Platte. She worked at several dry-cleaners in North Platte as a silk finisher. She retired in 1984. After retirement she bought her own home and cleaned and fixed it up.
Her hobbies included house cleaning, sewing, watching her favorite soap opera ?Days of Our Lives,? and especially visiting with her family and friends.
Survivors include daughters Maxine (Harry) George of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Noreen (Joseph) Murray of Boise, Idaho; son Stan Wolverton of North Platte; sister Berdine Fenton of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law Beulah Imhoff of North Platte; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Archie and sister Opal.
Memorials may be made to the NPHS Class of 1958 scholarship fund. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com
Services were Nov. 8 at Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating, with burial in the Dickens Cemetery. Arrangements were with Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
