"Mass of Christian Burial for
Merle G. Smith, Jr., 66, of Guthrie
will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday,
Dec. 28, 1995 at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Guthrie with
Rev. Denis Hanrahan officiating.
Burial will be in the Summit View
Cemetery in Guthrie under the
direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Merle was born on April '10,
1929 in Guthrie to Merle and
Ernestine Smith, Sr. He died on
Dec. 24 at his. home in Guthrie.
Merle was an attorney at law in
Guthrie. He served as past Logan
County District Attorney and as a
Special District Judge for 8 years.
He was a member of the Logan
County and Oklahoma Bar
Association. He was a member of
St. Mary's Catholic Church. He
served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during the Korean War.
He was survived by his wife;
Ann, of the home, three sons; Dr.
Merle G. Smith, III, D.D.S., of
Ponca City, Major David J. Smith,
PHD, of Honolulu, Ha., one
daughter; Julie Smith, of
Palmdale, Ca., two sisters; Sue
Smith Harrison, of Oklahoma
City, and Ernestine Thomas,
Pasadena, Texas, and four grandchildren.

A prayer vigil will be held at 7
p.m. Wednesday at the Smith
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St.
Mary's Catholic Church."
