Born in Veenhusen, Ostfriesen, Germany 1829 to Heye and Kuntje (Kruse) Reints. Immigrated with family in 1850 to Stephenson County, Ill. Married Grietje Neelen there in 1856. Attended the Rochester (NY) Theological Seminary. Had churches in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and finally the Hanover Presbyterian Church. Grietje died in 1905. In 1906 he married Sabina (Conger) Barber, the widow of Marcus Barber. She died in 1911 and Rev. Reints lived with his son John until his death later in 1911.

Sabina Margaret Conger Barber Reints 1833-1911
Sabina Margaret Conger was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, September 2, 1833 and died February 6, 1911, in Hastings, Nebraska, age 77 years. She came with her parents to Monroe county, Iowa in 1853. She was united in marrieage to Marcus L. Barber, February 22, 1856. With her husband and family she came to Mitchell county, Kansas in 1875 where they lived until 1894 when they came to Rush county. Here her husband died July 16, 1898. She was united in marriage to Rev. J.H. Reints of Hastings, Nebraska on July 17, 1906. To this union eight children were born, two who proceeded [sic] her in death. Those who survive are Edward L. Barber, Oregon, Henry E.Barber, Brownell, Mrs. Mary E. Ford, Iowa, Mrs. Ada L. McCall, Beloit, Mrs. Eva F. Hersley, Los Angeles and Mrs. Emma F. Nickel, McCracken. Burial was in Nickels Cemetery."
