Ray Cecil Jackson of Forest Grove died Wednesday in a Forest Grove hospital. He was 89. Funeral for Mr. Jackson was Saturday in the Forest Grove memorial Chapel. A graveside service was in the Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove.

Mr. Jackson was born in York County, Neb., and moved to Forest Grove in 1904. He worked in a bakery during his grade and high school years. He later worked for Carnation Co. in Forest Grove and Hillsboro testing and standardizing milk products. He moved to Portland in 1921 and worked for Swift and Co., where he was in charge of the margarine department. In 1925, he went to work as an office manager for Libby, McNeill and Libby cannery. He went into business for himself in 1946, raising minks. In 1969, he was named the fur Man of the year by the Olympic Fur Breeders Association.

Mr. Jackson was the secretary of the Oregon State Fur Breeders Association for 10 years, the secretary of the Oregon Fur Producers Association, president for two years of the Portland Unit of the Oregon Fur Breeders and the Olympic Fur Breeders Association and was the director of the National Board of Fur Farm Organizations for 10 years.
He was a life member of the Columbia Lodge 114 A.F. & A.M. in Portland, a member of the American legion, the World War I Veterans, Kiwanis and the Beaver State Mobilehome Owners Association. He was commander of the Banks Barracks 2608, Veterans of WWI and was involved in civil defense. He also donated his time and equipment to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War I.

Surviving are 10 nieces and nephews.
