NOAH CHILDS, 59, DIES IN HOSPITAL // Formerly in Livery Business Here
Noah Childs of 1440 West Forest avenue, died at 5:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Decatur and Macon County hospital. He was fifty-nine years old. His death was caused by cancer. He had been in failing health for a long time and had been in the hospital, for two weeks. Mr. Childs was born near Warrensburg and was widely known in the county. He was in the livery business in Decatur for about five years, the firm being Washburn & Childs. During recent years he has devoted most of his time to looking after his cotton plantation in Mississippi. Mr. Childs is survived by his wife, 1440 West Forest avenue, and two children, Mrs. Wiley Trent of Del Rio, Tex., and George W. Childs of Decatur. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Dr. C. F. Childs of La Place, Dr. T. S. Childs of San Diego, Cal., John Childs of Wyoming, Misses Hattie and Edna Childs of Hollywood, Cal., Mrs. Lewis Stookey of Harristown and Mrs. Howard Batchelder of Sterling, Colo. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church and had many friends. The body was removed to the Monson & Wilcox undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. No arrangements have been made for the funeral. Morris Trent, son of Mrs. Wiley Trent, of Del Rio, Tex., was also a grandson of Mr. Childs.

The funeral of Noah H. Childs was held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Monson & Wilcox chapel. There was a large attendance, the chapel being filled with friends. The services were conducted by Rev. Elisha Blafford, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian church. The music was furnished by Mrs. Corydon C. Nicholson and Mrs. Homer Bateman. There were many beautiful floral tributes, in charge of Mrs. W. Hulett, Mrs. Bert Wallace and Mrs. W. Bundy. The pallbearers were Fred Hott, Howard Hanthorn, Charles L. McKee, A. W. Wolfe, F. L. Weidman and A. Benton. The interment was in Fairlawn cemetery.

The Will of Noah Childs was filed to probate Thursday afternoon. The residence property, 1440 West Forest avenue, and the personal property is left to the widow, Gussie Childs, and she is also given a life estate in the 240-acre plantation in Mississippi. The balance of the estate is left to the children, Mrs. Grace K. Trent and George W. Childs, and they get the plantation at the death of Mrs. Childs. The latter is named executrix.
