While waiting transport home, Tech Sergeant Joel Beauford Busby, U.S. Army Air Forces, volunteered for an emergency mission. He was a radio operator/tail gunner as a member of The Flying Fortress, 353rd Bomber Squadron, 301st Bomber Group, Heavy Artillery.

He never came home.

Recipient of the Air Medal with mulitple oak leaf clusters.

Truly an American Hero and part of the Greatest Generation.
