"The Hawk Eye
Don LaVern Keltner, 78, of Wapello died Monday, December 14, 2009, at his home.

Born August 7, 1931, in Grandview, he was the son of Job and Grace Lucille Hardman Keltner. He married Marcella Marshall and later Elizabeth Ann Bryant.

Mr. Keltner farmed with his brothers, was a contractor and sold Morton Buildings. He graduated from Grandview High School in 1948. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wapello. He was a Wapello fireman and served on the Wapello City Council. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting, running his hounds, boating, fishing, camping and going to flea markets.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Dohrn of Austinville and Beth Dickey of Wapello; three sons, Mark Keltner of Morning Sun and Bryon Keltner and Tom Keltner, both of Wapello; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Webb and Jolene Pogemiller, both of Wapello, and Maxine Cornick of West Burlington; and four brothers, Harlan Keltner of Columbus Junction, Clarence Keltner of Columbia, Kentucky, Carl Keltner of Dunedin, Florida, and Job "Junior" Keltner of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his companion, Martha Lihs.

No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated.

The graveside service for Mr. Keltner will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Port Louisa Cemetery in rural Wapello, with the Reverend Harlan Winter officiating.

A memorial has been established.

Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is in charge of arrangements."
