Elsie Ruth (Brown) Sparkman passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Oct. 22, 2014. Mother experienced no pain or fear. She was 89 years old when she died.

Born on Dec. 14, 1924 in the rural outskirts of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mom was the oldest of Ray Revere and Myrtle Bertha (Sample) Brown's three children. She was a homemaker and over the years had worked at the Butler County Health Department. She was also of the Baptist faith. Besides her love of books, often reading several in a week's time, her other favorite things were nurturing her children, cuddling purring cats and growing all kinds of flowers in her garden.

On March 5, 1943, she married Jack Billy Sparkman in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death....

A son, David Sparkman, a brother, Clyde Brown and a sister, Doris Freeman also preceded Mrs. Sparkman in death...

Burial will be at Cochran Cemetery in Butler County.

We, her children would like to think of her now, sitting in a rocking chair, reading a really good book, with a fat cat purring on her lap, waiting for us all…to come home.
