Mary Brickson Tallman, 94, died May 1, 2008. She was born in Three Forks, Mont., and returned to Vero Beach in 2004, coming from Pony, Mont. She was a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman and Florida State University, where she earned her masters in administration and supervision. She was the first principal of Lawnwood Elementary School in Fort Pierce. She was choir director and organist at the First Methodist Church of Fort Pierce until her retirement in 1970. She served on the Madison County Government Study Commission and organized and led the Hollowtop Senior Citizens Club. Survivors include her sons, William D. Tallman of Sequim, Wash., Robert B. Tallman of Venice, Richard T. Tallman of Vero Beach, James D.Tallman of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. SERVICES: Following a memorial service in Harrison, she will be buried next to her mother in Whitehall, Mont. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

Mary Brickson Tallman, 94, died May 1 in Vero Beach, Fla., on May 1. Mrs. Tallman's husband, Bill, died in November 1960.

She is survived by four sons: William D. Tallman of Sequim, Wash.; Robert B. Tallman of Venice, Fla.; Richard T. Tallman of Vero Beach, Fla.; and James D. Tallman of Marietta, Ga. She had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was born in Three Forks in 1913 and was a graduate of Montana State University and Florida State University, where she earned a master's degree in administration and supervision.

She was the first principal of Lawnwood Elementary School in Ft. Pierce, Fla., an active member and past president of the Pilot Club in Ft. Pierce, and choir director and organist at the First Methodist Church of Ft. Pierce until her retirement in 1970. On retirement, Mrs. Tallman moved to Pony near her birthplace to care for her mother.

She traveled widely in the following years, visiting Russia, Scandinavia, Western Europe, China, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Peru and the Galapagos Islands.

Her ashes will be shared among her husband's grave in Florida, her mother's in Whitehall, and near Hollow Top.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Harrison Church.
