Dorrell M. "Shep" Bilyeu, 73, Nixa, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001, in his home. He was born July 12, 1927, in the Christian Center Community near Ozark, the son of Homer and Jewel (Mapes) Bilyeu.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army.
Shep and Barbara Sue Lilly were united in marriage on May 7, 1953.
Mr. Bilyeu worked as a linotype operator and stock dealer before retirement.
He was a member of American Legion Post #676 and was a former director of the American Cowboy Rodeo Association.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Eugene Bilyeu; a brother-in-law, Gerald Hodges; and a son-in-law, Norman Trotter.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three children, Patrick Gene Bilyeu and his wife Brenda, of Springfield, MO; Cherly Lynn Trotter, of Nixa, MO; and Charlotte Morrison and her husband Chris, of Nixa, MO; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Bilyeu and his wife, Eldena, of Ozark, MO; and two sisters, Levane Hodges, of Sparta, MO; and Avalane Estes and her husband, Don, of Ozark, MO.
Visitation was Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 20, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Jimmy Young officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Barbara Sue (Lilly) Bilyeu, 70, Nixa, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in her home. Mrs. Bilyeu was born April 5, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of William Eugene and Matrie Marie (Pittman) Lilly.
On May 5, 1953 she married Dorrell "Shep" M. Bilyeu and to this union three children were born.
Mrs. Bilyeu and her husband co-owned and successfully operated Cardin's Insurance Salvage store in Branson for 10 years.
She began her medical career at the age of 14, working for Springfield Baptist Hospital as an aide. She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1952 with an RN diploma and assisted in opening the new St. John's Hospital that same year. Her 56-year nursing career included work
at various hospitals in labor and delivery, surgery, mental health, geriatrics, pediatrics and industrial nursing at Springday/Dayco Corporation in Springfield and Fasco Corporation in Ozark.
In 1982, she opened the Ozark Nursing and Care Center in Ozark as Director of Nursing and served in that capacity for five years. After retiring, she kept her nursing license active which enabled her to care for her husband until his death in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Dorrell "Shep;" her parents, William and Matrie Lilly; her in-laws, Homer and Jewel Bilyeu; two brothers-in-law, Gene Bilyeu and Gerald Hodges; and one son-in-law, Norman Trotter.
She is survived by one son, Patrick G. Bilyeu and wife Brenda, of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Trotter of Nixa, and Charlotte Morrison and husband Chris, of Nixa; four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeannie Post and husband Roger, of Davies, CA;
and Maryann Graves and husband Bobby, of Poteau, OK; one brother, Jim Lilly of Poteau, OK; two sisters-in-law, Lovane Hodges of Sparta, MO; and Avalane Estes and her husband, Don, of Ozark, MO; one brother-in-law, Ron Bilyeu and wife Eldena, of Ozark; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, April 7, at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, with Chaplain Jimmy Young officiating. Burial followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
