Albert H. Hinds, 88, of route four, a life long resident of Orange township, died at 2:38 P.M. Saturday after a long illness.
He was a member of the LeValley Methodist church and spent a lifetime of activity in his church. He was a former Sunday school superintendent and head of the board of trustees. He was superintendent of the building of the present LeValley church after the old one burned in 1922. For many years he served on pastor relations committee and usher of the church. He also was chairman of the board of commission for the Balcom cemetery association for 25 to 30 years.
Mr. Hinds, a retired farmer, spent 50 to 60 years in the white faced Hereford Cattle business.
He was born May 30, 1871 in Orange township, the son of William and Caroline (Russell) Hinds.
He attended Benedict school and Ionia high school. January 8, 1896 he was married to Elsie M. Benedict and she died in 1950.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at LeValley Methodist church. The body of Mr. Hinds will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until Tuesday noon. The Rev. J. Lawrence Ward will officiate and burial will be at Balcom cemetery.

Mrs. Eltie Hinds, 76, wife of Albert H. Hinds, prominent Orange township farmer, died Thursday at 2:15 p.m. in Ionia after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 13, 1874 in Orange township, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Benedict, attending the Benedict school and Ionia high school. She spent her entire life in Orange township.
In 1896 she was married to Albert H. Hinds at her home and since then has lived on the present farm. Mr. and Mrs. Hinds had been married 56 years and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary at their home.
She was a member of LeValley Methodist church and was active in the church work as Sunday school teacher and was a musical leader having played the piano and organ at the church for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and the Missionary society.
Surviving besides the husband are a sister, Mrs. Anna Williams of Whitmore Lake; and three brothers, Ross, Elmer and Floyd Benedict. Another brother, Earl, preceded her in death.
The body will repose at the farm home from Friday evening until 1 p.m. Sunday when it will be removed to LeValley church. Services will be conducted at the church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Henry Ball. Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery.
