Glen A. Basinger passed away on February 6, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. Glen was born in Italy, Texas on December 6, 1930. He lived in Rankin, attending schools in the Avalon district until graduating from Ennis High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1952, completed a tour of duty during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1954. After graduating from Abilene Christian College in 1958, he taught and coached for the Tye school system. In 1961, he began a career as a stock broker for Epler, Gerin & Turner and eventually became an independent investor after moving to Dallas in 1968. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, a supporter of the Happy Hill Farm for Children, and faithful attendee at the annual Rankin Reunions. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Basinger, and survived by the following: siblings Ben Basinger, Billie Jean Brown, and Johnnie Feaster; children Anslie Dysart, Cleveland Basinger, and Brooke Basinger; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
