RITES SET FOR ROY WOLVERTON

Funeral rites will be held at the Wenning and Porter funeral home here at 2 p.m. Thursday for John Roy Wolverton, 72, a resident of Greensburg for many years. The Rev. Guy D. Carpenter will be in charge and burial will be in South Park cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where friends may call.

Mr. Wolverton passed away at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning at the Palmer grocery store in Columbus as the result of a heart seizure. Although he had been in poor health for the past two years, his death was unexpected and came as a shock to relatives and friends.

The son of Oliver B. and Louella McClain Wolverton, he was born in Iowa on Sept. 17, 1879. He had spent nearly all his life in this community, where he had engaged in farming in his early life. Later he entered the transfer business, an occupation which he followed for many years.

On August 30, 1911, he was united in marriage to Hazel Barringer of Greensburg. His wife preceded him in death on June 7, 1944.

Mr. Wolverton had been a member of Decatur Lodge No.103, I.O.O.F for many years. For the last three years he had made his home with Mrs. Chester Neal, a niece, at 610 Beatty, Columbus.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Wolverton was the last of his family having been preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Included in the nieces and nephews are: Albert Miller, of this city, Fay Miller, of Indianapolis, Norman Wolverton and Robert Wolverton, of St. Paul, and Mrs. Ethel Kirkpatrick, of Greensburg.
