"Died at her home in Stanley Saturday Oct. 19, 1901 after an illness of over seven weeks of typhoid fever. Miss Effie Zabriskie, aged 18 years, 6 months and 6 days, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Zabriskie. Effie was a general favorite everywhere whre known, a girl of industry, ever thoughtful of home duties, serving mother, father sister and brothers, loving and tender with the many neighbors all of whom willmiss her frequent and ever jolly laughter making calls. All was done by family, friends, doctor and nurse that could be done. The funeral was held in the M. E. church Monday afternoon. Rev. Foote officiating. The double quartette sang. The pall-bearers were the Misses Carrie Irvine, Pearl Lincoln, Bertha and Ada Sherril, Anna Schilling, Ida Cranalll, Maud Clapp, Edith Brown. The floral designs were many and beautiful. The casket was the most beautiful light casket that could be gotten in Oelwein. The deceased was dressed in pure white according to her own wishes and the eight girls who were her choice girl friends were dressed in white."
