Allison Riegel Woolverton
DAUGHTER OF MR. AND MRS. GREGORY DALTON WOOLVERTON, HER MOTHER THE FORMER STEPHANIE MARIE RIEGEL OF NEW ORLEANS
Education: St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge, La., where she was a cheerleader, captain of the Speech and Debate Team, president of the Latin Club, a student ambassador, a National Merit semifinalist, and a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Student Ministry, Mu Alpha Theta, the Beta Club, and the St. Aloysius Catholic Church High School Youth Group leadership team. An incoming junior at Tulane University, she is a political economy and Spanish double major and a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She has led and participated in the university's Alternative Breaks service learning trips to Hidalgo County in Texas on the Mexico border where she worked with immigrants, and to Denham Springs, La., where she gutted flood-damaged homes. She has also participated in the Changemaker Institute at Tulane's Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking and was chosen to be a counselor for Tulane's EXPLORE program for incoming freshman. This fall she will study abroad in Madrid, Spain at St. Louis University.
Hobbies: Running, piano, swimming, yoga, cooking and healthy eating.
Has worked: As an affordable housing coordinator intern at the New Orleans Mission and as an intern at the Center for Planning Excellence. This summer she will intern with Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge in its immigration and refugee resettlement program.
Plans to: Attend law school before pursuing a career in immigration law.
Presentations: Presented in the Bienville Club, the Founders of the City New Orleans and the Society of the War of 1812; as a demoiselle in the Spring Fiesta; and as a maid in Harlequins. She was honored at a luncheon at Galatoire's in June.
