ONEIDA - Pauline E. Sorensen, 93, formerly of Hubbard Pl., Oneida, and Stoneleigh Apartments, Canastota, died early Thursday morning, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a medical patient for the past two days, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 22, 1919, in Sherrill, N.Y., a daughter of Bert and Anna Britzke Wolverton. On Dec. 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Richard D. Sorensen. Mr. Sorensen died Feb. 1, 1974. In earlier years, she was employed as a business partner with her husband in the operation of R. D. Sorensen and Sons Blacktop and Paving in Oneida.
Surviving is a daughter, Judy Hudson, of Sherrill; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Gussie Sorensen, of Canastota; three sisters, Eleanor Keene, of Sherrill, Marian Philo, of Oneida, and Bertha Griffin, of Oneida; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Charles and Harold; a son-in-law, Paul Hudson; and was also predeceased by her siblings, Eva Fisher, Buss Wolverton, Alice Wolick, Kate Loomis, Vivian Mather, Kenneth Wolverton, and Charles Wolverton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida with Pastor Frank Loan, of the Vernon United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Sunnyside Cemetery, Merrillsville. Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. preceding the services, at the funeral home.
