Donald Caroll Ryon, 83, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and formerly of Streator, died at 12:40 p.m. May 18 at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, Fla.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. The Rev. John Crist of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate and also conduct graveside services at Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born April 27, 1927, in Streator, he was the son of Harley and Grace (Caroll) Ryon. He married Charlene Norma Staton in 1949. She died March 17, 1986. He later married Carol Lee Walsh on Dec. 24, 1987, who survives.

He also is survived by sons, David Roe Ryon of New Port Richey, Fla., and Donald Patrick (Diane) Ryon of Hanover Park; stepdaughter, Lisa Ann (Dan) VanBuskirk of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; grandchildren, Eric Ryon, Ashley Ryon, Quin James VanBuskirk, Sean Keogh VanBuskirk and Liam Ryon VanBuskirk; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Debra Ann Miller of Canton, Ohio; and a brother, Robert Bradford Ryon.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945. He worked for Motorola as an engineer for many years until his retirement, was a former member of Park Presbyterian Church in Streator and graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana.
