This biography taken from a Stanley family history published in 1963 by Ernest's brother, Edwin J. Stanley (namesake son of the Rev E. J. Stanley).

ERNEST BROOKE. born July 14, 1897, in Corvallis. Played on Whitehall High school basketball team, graduated from Montana State College in 1919, served as ROTC second lieutenant during World War I, joined the staff of the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1920, where he presently is professor of animal science. He received his master's degree at Iowa State in 1923; married Ruth Prina, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Z. C. Prina, Stafford, Ariz., Nov. 23, 1923. Ruth graduated from Arizona in 1922. Her father was a pioneer Arizona rancher. She and her two daughters are members of Kappa Kappa Gamma and P.E.O. To them three children were born, Marilyn, Nov. 2. 1927; married Charles S. Connolly; James, Oct. 4, 1938; married Rhoda Karen Maxfield June 24, 1961; Prina, Dec. 26, 1929; presently a nutritionist at the U. S. Public Health, San Francisco. Jim received his B.A. degree from Stanford University in 1960, he and Rhoda graduating the same year "with distinction". He now is completing his third year in the medical school at Yale and was granted a year's leave to take a research scholarship in Munich. Rhoda is a Phi Beta Kappa and took her master's degree at Stanford in speech pathology. Prina graduated from Arizona in 1950, home economics, and received her Master of Health degree at the University of California. Marilyn graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1949. taught school a year and served 2 1/2 years as stewardess on the American Air Lines. Ernest has been a leader in the development of the livestock industry in Arizona; holds an honorary life membership in the Arizona Cattle Growers association, the Arizona Wool Growers association and the Arizona Hereford association. In 1962 his former students set up a scholarship in recognition of his teaching ability. He was president of the Tucson Rotary club in 1949 and in 1962, ill health compelled him to resign as a candidate for district Rotary governor.
