Services for Grace C. Wolverton, 91, of Champaign, formerly of Savoy and Branson, Mo., will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Savoy United Methodist Church, 402 Graham Drive. The Rev. James McClarey will officiate. Burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Mo., at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Mrs. Wolverton died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 30, 2003) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. She was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Conway, Kan., a daughter of Peter J. and Genevieve Wegman Oberst. She married Glenn E. Wolverton on Feb. 19, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Feb. 8, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Gary Wolverton of Savoy and Gilbert Wolverton of Yorba Linda, Calif.; five grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; and a step-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter. Mrs. Wolverton graduated from Trinity Lutheran School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo., in 1936 and was a private duty nurse. She moved to Branson, Mo., and worked in the office of Dr. William Magness. She retired in 1976. She was a member of Savoy United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Branson, Mo. She was a member and past president of American Legion Post 220 Auxiliary in Branson and helped establish a transportation system for senior citizens in Branson and Tanney County, Mo. Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
