RITES SET FOR MR. WOLVERTON

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Carmony Funeral Home in St. Paul for Norman H. Wolverton, 68, who died Friday afternoon at Major Hospital. He had been ill for several months and hospitalized for the past two weeks. Burial will be in Paul Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

Owner and operator of the Nail & Co. general store in St. Paul until his retirement several years ago, Mr. Wolverton was a native of Shelbyville, but had spent most of his life in St. Paul. He was the son of Lee and Rose (Dodds) Wolverton and born Feb. 20, 1902. He was married Nov. 10, 1927 to Doris Nail, and she survives at home.

Also surviving are three children, Mrs. David (Rosamond) Mitchell of Fortville; Norman E. Wolverton Sr. of London, Ohio; and Mrs. Larry (Leah Jane) Willman of Indianapolis. He also leaves eight grandchildren. A brother, Robert, died in 1963.

Mr. Nail was a member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge, the St. Paul Christian Church, and a former member of the St. Paul Kiwanis Club.

Doris L. Wolverton, 94, of Waldron, former St. Paul resident, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Waldron Health Care Home.

Born May 14, 1908 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of Sherman and Alice (Burgett) Nail. She married Norman Wolverton on Nov. 10, 1927, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1970.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosie Mitchell of Fortville and LeaJane Willman of Conroe, Texas; one son, Norman "Sonny" Wolverton of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Marian Judy of Hope and Evelyn Steiner of Indianapolis; two brothers, James Nail of Syracuse and Julian Nail of Indianapolis; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Adrian Nail and Leon Nail.

Mrs. Wolverton was a lifetime resident of St. Paul. She was a homemaker and previously worked in the family-owned Nail & Co. store in St. Paul until retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Christian Church and St. Paul Music Club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. L.J. Poe officiating. Burial will be in Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.
