Burton Nealey

Burton K. Nealey, 89, of Danville died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Danville Care Center.

Born May 3, 1921, in Danville, he was the son of Dwight Charles and Gladys Kelly Nealey. On April 28, 1945, he married Mildred Florence "Milly" Moore in Danville. She died Jan. 11, 2004.

Mr. Nealey farmed in the Danville area. He graduated from Danville High School in 1939. He served as a Seabee in the Navy during World War II. He served on the board of directors of Danville State Bank, Des Moines County Fair and Danville Care Center. He had a lifelong interest in trading and training horses and enjoyed horse racing.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Nealey and Charlie Nealey, both of Danville, and Tom Nealey of Bloomington, Ill.; one daughter, Cindy Schuelke of Haysville, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Nau of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Charles Nealey of Des Moines; nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Nealey will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Danville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Buck officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in rural Danville.

Memorials have been established for Danville United Methodist Church, American Red Cross and National Parkinson's Foundation.

Mildred Nealey
Mildred "Milly" Florence Nealey, 82, of Danville, died at 9:09 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Danville, she was the daughter of Earl and Mary Toft Moore. On April 28, 1945, she married Burt Nealey in Danville.
Mrs. Nealey was a homemaker.
She was a 1939 graduate of Danville High School. She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church, Eastern Star in Danville, the Garden Club, United Methodist Women and the Ten Club. She liked music, gardening, cooking and having people over.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jim Nealey and Charlie Nealey, both of Danville, and Tom Nealey of Bloomington, Ill.; one daughter, Cindy Schuelke of Haysville, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Nealey will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Danville United Methodist Church, with Pastors Rick Latta and Harry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in rural Danville.
Memorials have been established for Danville United Methodist Church, American Red Cross and the National Parkinsons Foundation.
