Melanie was the daughter of Charles Roland Ward b 1943 Martins Mill, Van Zandt County Texas and Marilyn Elaine Daugherty Ward b 1946 Canton, Van Zandt County Texas. Her father & mother are buried in Canton Texas at Haven of Memories Cemetery.
Melanie followed her dream and lived her life in Alaska near the mountains and the snow and the wildlife which she loved so much. There she met and shared her life with her partner, Douglas Alton Meeker, the son of a wheat farmer from Kansas. Together they lived & together they rest in peace on a hillside in Homer Alaska, Kenai Peninsula Borough.
Melanie had no children. Her siblings were Charles Roland Ward Jr b 1965 TX and a half-brother Gerald Hoyt Smallwood III b 1971 TX.
