Joel Dewey Abshier passed away at his home on his birthday, April 10, 2007.

Joe was born April 10, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to J.D. Abshier and Celia (McSwain) Johnson. He attended Moore High School, but before graduating, enlisted in the Army to serve our country during the Vietnam War. Joe was seriously wounded during his service with the Army and was an Honorably Discharged Veteran.

In 1976, Joe married Teresa Chapman, and together they had three children, Heather Lea Abshier, Jesse Dale Abshier (wife Emily), and Paul William Abshier. He also had one very precious grandson, Justin Ryan McMullen, Heather's son. Joe worked in Oklahoma City at Speed Fab Crete, Harters Concrete, as well as several different oilfield trucking companies throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father J.D. Abshier and stepmother Evelyn L. Gates Abshier and half brother William (Farmer) Clock.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Kelley Memorial Chapel of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home, Eufaula.
