Thomas L. Abbott
June 11, 1932 - March 23, 2003
Thomas L. “Tom” Abbott, 70 of Nebraska City, died March 26, 2003 at his home. He was born June 11, 1932 to Adrian A. Abbott and Nora I (Jones) in Nebraska City.
He married MaryLou Walker on Aug. 20, 1952 in Auburn. He was a contract truck driver for Bekin Van Lines.
He is survived by his wife MaryLou Abbott of Nebraska City; childre Walter William Abbott and wife Wanda of Esko, Minn,, LuAnn Abbott Bixler and husband Garvin Jr. of Livonia, N.Y. , and Thomas Lee Abbott and wife Pamela of Spring Valley, Minn.; sisters Wanda Barret of Nebraska City and Vernice Ebler of Camden, MO,; brother Darold Abbott of Elmwood; 11 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin Abbott, Everett Eugene Abbott, Guy Abbott, Carl Abbott and Larry Abbott and sister Lola Barrett.
Memorial services were Saturday, March 29, at Gude Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City.
The Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City was in charge of the arrangements.

TOM ABBOTT AWARD GIVEN FOR DRIVER'S COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
Tom Abbott was selected as best overall driver for the Bekins Cal Intra Fleet for October, November, December 1986. Criteria for this award include excellence in customer service, loading ablates, attitude, appearance, and timeliness.
An 18 year veteran with the moving industry, Abbott has spent many of these years in the Bekins system. He services primarily the interstate tonnage of Arizona and Nevada.
Other drivers recognized for outstanding job performance were runner-up Glenn Fuller and Eric Rogeness. Fuller services primarily northern California radials while Rogeness services the southern California radials.
Abbott will receive a $50 check and a Bekins travel bag. Fuller and Rogeness will receive $50 each.
