Final Rites held here for Ansel Lyons
Services for Ansel Lyons, 74, were held August 27 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Carl Cummings officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford.
Mr. Lyons died August 23, 1984 at Bedford Manor in Bedford.
Ansel Reese Lyons, son of Jasper L. Lyons and Elizabeth Gilliam Lyons, was born in Ringgold County Iowa, October 20, 1909 and moved to Taylor County with his family at an early age where he attended the public school and the Conway High School. In October 1931 he was united in marriage to Alma Levine Reed in Omaha, Ne. and they lived on farms in the Bedford area until retirement when they moved to Bedford to reside. To this union two daughters were born: Alice Ann Sterner and Sharon Reed Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alma and daughter Sharon.
Left to cherish his memory are a sister, Martha Rosenthal; a brother Leon Lyons and a daughter, Ann Sterner; grandchildren: Cathi Ann Brown; Kevin Lyons Champ; Albert Henry Champ; Angelia Tiffany Magner and Reece Earl Barrett; other relatives and friends.
He served his country during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.
He was a kind father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Final Rites Held In Bedford For Alma Lyons, 73Funeral services for Mrs. Ansel R. (Alma Levine) Lyons, 73, of Bedford, held December 21 in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, were conducted by Rev. Carl Cummings and Rev. Charles Newman. Mrs. Lyons died in her Bedford home December 18, 1982. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Ia.

Alma Levine Reed Lyons, daughter of William R. Reed and Maude King Reed, was born near Athelstan, Iowa December 20, 1908.

She grew to maturity in the community where she was born where she attended public school, Blockton High School and the Methodist Church.

In October 1931 she was united in marriage to Ansel R. [eese] Lyons at Omaha, Nebraska and they lived in Taylor County on farms until about five years ago when they moved to Bedford where they have since continued to reside.

Two daughters were born to this union: Alice Ann and Sharon Reed.

She was a member of the Bedford Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Sharon Barrett; and two brothers, Ray and Roy Reed.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ansel of the home; a daughter, Alice Ann Sterner, of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Pauline, and her husband, Jack S. Orth, of Bedford, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Iola Reed, of Bedford, Iowa; five grandchildren: Cathy Brown, Kevin Champ, Albert Champ, Angela Magner and Rees Barrett; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbor and she will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
