MURPHYSBORO - Gladys Lucille Littlefield, 85, of Decatur, Tenn., formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 1:02 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, in Sky Ridge Medical Center in Cleveland, Tenn.

Gladys was born on Aug. 11, 1922, in Hurst-Bush, to Charles Menees and Myrtle (Hargrove) Menees.

She had worked as a nurse's aid in Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Littlefield was Baptist by faith. She was a very avid Cardinal baseball fan.

Gladys was a member and past president of Murphysboro VFW Post 7190 and of Carbondale VFW Post 2605 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member and past president of Murphysboro American Legion Post 127 Ladies Auxiliary.

She had some very special friends and they loved to play bingo and played cards together.

Gladys married Lewis O. McNeill on Dec. 10, 1938, and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1950. She married Leroy Littlefield on May 17, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1993.

She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Betty Lipe and her special friend, John Hicks, of Marissa, Eddie "Pete" McNeill and his wife, Shirley, of Murphysboro, Chuck McNeill and his wife, Delores "Dee," of Murphysboro, Judy Ridings and her husband, Terry, of Murphysboro, Kathy Perez and her husband, Paul, of Knoxville Tenn., Brenda Davis and her husband, Robert "Bob," of Decatur, Tenn., and Nila Henson and her husband, Bobby, of Colorado; a total of 63 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Menees of Seneca; three sisters, Nola Robinson, of Decatur, Delores Maze of Herrin and Henrietta Bernhardt of Murphysboro.
