S-Sgt Guy F. Abbott funeral service will be held at the Gude Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City, Thursday, March 6, at 2 PM. The Rev. Ralf Dyer will officiate. Burial will be at the Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Nebraska. Pall bearers and full military honors will be provided by the United States Army, Fort Riley, Kansas. Guy was killed in action Vietnam on Sunday morning, February 23, 1969 according to his sister Mrs. Dale Barrett, 816 N. 16th Street, Nebraska, City.

GUY ABBOTT IS KILLED IN WAR
Guy Abbott, 29, was killed in action in Vietnam, Sunday morning, according to his sister, Mrs. Dale Barrett, 816, North 16th Street, Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Mrs. Barrett said that Abbott's wife, who has been living with her parents in Hamburg, Iowa, was notified of her husband's death by an Army representative from Des Moines, Iowa, Monday.
Mrs. Abbott is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Myron Buckner of Hamburg, Iowa.
Abbott had been in Vietnam for three years, Mrs. Barrett said, and had 12 years of service in the Army.
Mrs. Barrett said further details would be available later.

MILITARY SERVICE SET FOR GUY ABBOTT
Military services will be held in Nebraska City, Nebraska for Staff Sergeant Guy F. Abbott, 30, who was killed in action Sunday in Vietnam. The time and date of the service will be announced later.
The funeral will be at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Ralph Dyer, officiating. Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Nebraska. Gude Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Sergeant Abbott was born in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, January 26, 1939. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Abbott.
He married Gayle Buckner in Nebraska City, Nebraska in July 1968. She had been living with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Buckner of Hamburg, Iowa, while her husband was in Viet Nam.
Sergeant Abbott living in Nebraska City, Nebraska until enlisting in the Army. He had served in the Army 11 years.
He is survived by his wife, two children, Melinda, 8, and Guy Jr., 5; three sisters, Mrs. Delbert (Lois) Barrett of Fremont, Nebraska, Mrs. Dale (Wanda) Barrett, Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Mrs. Mervin (Vernus) Rockford, of Oakland; and five brothers, Martin, Everett, and Darold of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Larry of Union, Nebraska, Tom of Eyota, Minnesota. One brother, Carl, preceded him in death.

S/SGT ABBOTT KILLED ON THIRD VIET TOUR
Mrs. Guy F. Abbott of Hamburg, Iowa has been informed her husband, a S/Sgt with the First Cavalry Division serving somewhere in South Viet Nam was killed in action Sunday.
The 30 year old air cavalryman, a career veteran of ten years service, was on his third assignment to the war theatre. He had been overseas this time since September 24.
Mrs. Abbott, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Buckner is expecting their first offspring later this spring. She has been living with her parents since Sgt. Abbott went overseas.
No other details of his death were known at press time. The funeral and burial will be at Nebraska City, Nebraska, but the date has not been set.
Sgt. Abbott was a decorated hero of the war, having been awarded four purple hearts for previous wounds, in addition to a bronze star with cluster, and another bronze star with valor citation. He had been awarded the Air Medal for over 30 Missions, as well as a medal from the Vietnamese government.
He is also survived by five brothers, Gene, Tommy, Darrell, and Martin, all of Nebraska City, and Larry, Union, Nebraska, Wanda Barrett, Nebraska City, and Vernice Rockford, Oakland, Nebraska.
