"Rufus B. Matthews Succumbs In Florida

FLEMINGTON -- Rufus B. Mathews, 74. a former long-time Flemington resident, died at St. Petersburg Hospital, Fla., on Friday. He had been a patient at the hospital for a year.

Mr. Mathews, who was a feed dealer and civil engineer in Flemington, moved to St. Petersburg in 1961 with his wife, Mabel.

He was born in Quakertown and was a graduate of Lehigh University. He was a member of Orpheus Lodge, F.&A.M. in Stockton.

Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, Mrs. David Dilts and Mrs. Douglas Freeman of Flemington, Mrs. Mortimer Wilson of Tumacacori, Ariz; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services are planned for Monday afternoon from the C. James Mathews Funeral Chapel in St. Petersburg."

"Mabel F. Mathews

FLEMINGTON -- Mabel F. Mathews, 93, of Prospect Hill Apartments, died Thursday in Stone Arch Health Care Center, Pittstown,

Mrs. Mathews was born in Bayonne and had lived in Flemington since 1913. She was a member of the Flemington Women's Club and the Col. Lowrey Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Flemington.

Wife of the late Rufus B. Mathews, who died i 1963, she is survived by two daughters, Harriet M. Freeman of Clinton Township and Mary M. Dilts of Flemington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Holcombe Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington or the American Cancer Society."
