"THE BOULDER NEWS
Twenty-First Year Thursday, February 13, 1890; [ page 4; column 3 ]
A man named Wolverton, section boss on the railroad, died at Louisville Tuesday. He was a veteran of the late war and a request was sent here for the comrades to go down and bury him with military honors today but no enough could be gotten together to perform the ceremony properly, but a small squad went in order to show proper respect to his memory.

THE BOULDER NEWS
Twenty-First Year Thursday, March 27, 1890; [ page 3; column 3 ]
Mention was made some time ago of the death of Jacob Wolverton, an old soldier, at Louisville and that he left a family of small children destitute, without father or mother. The G.A.R. post here has been looking after the case and last week two of the members visited the family and learned what was most needed. The ladies of the Relief Corps then took the matter in hand and canvassed the town for clothing. All the clothing, dry goods and shoe stores gave freely and a good supply was secured and taken to them, so that they are well provided for the present. Steps have also been taken to secure pensions for the children, which will probably be successful.
