WEATHERFORD, Texas -- Genie L. Jones, 61, Weatherford, formerly of the St. Joseph area, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital.

Mr. Jones had worked for the Missouri Highway Department in the St. Joseph area for 10 years before becoming a truck driver for Yellow Freight Trucking.

He was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Carroll County, Mo.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Baptist faith.

He married his wife, Sue, on Dec. 23, 1967, in Carrolton, Mo. She survives of the home.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather; and grandparents.

Additional survivors: two daughters, Vicky Jackson, Easton, Mo., and Charlene Darrah, Kansas City; three stepdaughters, Shirley Hare, Eureka, Kan., Shiela Evans, St. Joseph, and Rhonda Dominquez, St. Paul, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Mo. Burial: Enon Cemetery, Dawn, Mo. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 tonight. Memorial contributions may be sent to Enon Cemetery.
