"Mrs. Monty Johnson has been working on genealogy for more than 20 years. Last
Christmas (1995) she was given the CD-ROM version of Family Tree Maker and has been
enjoying having this capability to help her get her genealogy files in better order. Monty was
born on May 9, 1945 at Old Hickory, Tennessee, the daughter of Andy J. and Ruby D. (Stewart)
Wolverton. Both her parents are still living, and she has 3 brothers, Jerry Carl Wolverton (b.
Dec. 26, 1937), Frank Doyle Wolverton (b. July 15, 1949), and Calvin Stuart Wolverton (b. Nov.
27, 1951). Monty was married to Clinton Bernard Johnson on April 17, 1982 at Glenview,
Illinois. She was raised Baptist and now attends the Presbyterian Church. She works as a flight
attendant for Delta Air Lines, and her husband, Clint Johnson, is an international Captain with
Delta.
Monty says, "We frequently find ourselves in the situation where I am laying over in
Honolulu while he is in Paris at the same time!" She continues, "While it may all sound
glamorous at times, it can also be very exhausting and disruptive to family life."
Because they have a son, Matthew Stewart Johnson, who is 10 years old (b. Dec. 10, 1985 at
Evanston, IL), they usually try to work opposite days from each other. This will only last about
another year because Clint has mandatory retirement in April of 1997, and Monty will probably
fly no more than a year or so after that.
Monty was a regular subscriber to Royal Wolverton's Cousins Unlimited. She also mentions
that she has a brother, Jerry Wolverton, who is an ordained minister and works for the Baptist
Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tennessee. Jerry's son, Andrew Preston "Andy" Wolverton,
is pastor of a church in northern Florida. Both are ordained with the Southern Baptist Church."
