Marion C. Isaacs, 93, of Fort Smith, died March 10, 2017.
He was born July 30, 1923 in Fort Smith to Clay and Ida May Decker Isaacs.

Marion served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II. He married Betty Jean Oldham in 1948 and was married for 64 years before her death in 2012. Marion and Betty moved to San Francisco Bay Area in California shortly after their marriage where Marion worked for the Post Office, retiring as a Supervisor after 30 years of service. They returned to Fort Smith after retirement where Marion continued to enjoy hunting and fishing and spent more time enjoying the art of taxidermy and wood carving. Serving the Lord was a big part of their lives together. Marion worked faithfully in Southern Baptist church activities, from grounds and building maintenance, to being a leader for young men as a Sunday School teacher and Activity Director. Marion enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, water skiing, and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed an annual Elk Hunting trip to West Yellowstone, Montana for many years; and he and Betty enjoyed cruises and overseas travel. Marion loved animals and wildlife. He was always fascinated by their behavior and watched every television show featuring any animal or bird. He always owned a dog and his last dog, Buffy, died in 2014 while living with Marion at the Brookdale Senior Living facility in Fort Smith where they were a well-known pair, walking and visiting with all of the residents and staff.

Marion is survived by his daughter Bettye Lynn Stanbery of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Barry and Shirley Shepherd of Greenwood, AR along with their children, Adam Shepherd, Matthew and wife Jessica Shepherd, and Shawna and husband Joseph Fowler; one brother Neil and wife Eleanor Isaacs of Mulberry, AR; one sister, Leone and husband Vernon Souza of Turlock, CA.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, and four siblings.

Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
