William E. "Bill" Harlan, 74, of Moberly Missouri, formerly of Huntsville, died at his home on Saturday, November 13, 2010.
Bill was born July 25, 1936, in Huntsville, MO the son of Edmond and Vivian Gaines Harlan.
He graduated from Huntsville High School, class of 1954. He married Joleta Summers on April 2, 1960, in Huntsville. She survives him.
Bill served in the Army from 1958 to 1966. He worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a dispatcher until he retired in 1991. He also helped his father on the family farm, where they raised registered Angus cattle as "Harlan Angus Ranch."
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Craig Harlan and wife Diane of Huntsville; two daughters, Lisa Haffecke of Kansas City, MO and Lori Wilhite and husband Mike of Huntsville; one brother, Tom Harlan and wife Sharon of Murfreesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Alisha Gillihan and husband Ryan of Houston, TX, Amanda Keeler and husband Derek of White Hosue, TN, Daniel Wilhite of Columbia, MO, Wade Wilhite of Warrensburg, MO, Sadie Wilhite of Huntsville, and Dylan Rucker of Huntsville, MO; one great-grandson, Micah Keeler; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His parents and one brother, Larry, preceded Mr. Harlan in death.
Bill was a member of the Huntsville Christian Church, where he served as an Elder and Board Chairman for many years. He was a 50 year Mason of the Huntsville Masonic Lodge #30, an active member of the Huntsville TACC Club, and the American Angus Association. He also served on the state board of directors for the Missouri Angus Association for several years. Bill served on the board of directors at Happy Homes Manor in Huntsville for several years. Bill was a member of the Salisbury Golf Course where he enjoyed playing golf. He also loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services at the Huntsville Christian Church. Rev. David Nicholson officiated. Burial in the Huntsville City Cemetery. A Masonic Service Monday evening at PATTON Funeral Home in Huntsville.
Memorials are suggested to the Huntsville Christian Church or to the Westran Alumni Living Memorial Scholarship Fund.
