James V Galloway was born July 24, 1841 the fifth of seven children to Simeon & Amelia (Fox) Galloway in Huron, Erie County Ohio.

On January 17, 1871 he married Mary Elesta Wolverton in Erie County Ohio. His sister Polly A Galloway married Owen B Lamb on this same day. It is quite possible they shared a double wedding ceremony.

James Galloways' grandfather Roger Fox died on February 28, 1883. James was the administrator for the will of his grandfather Roger Fox. He filed an "Application to Probate Will" on March 3, 1883 - Erie County Court. Heirs: Allen Fox, Charles Fox, Sylvester Fox, Amelia Galloway, Frank Pritchard, Mary Pritchard.
